“She’s Got You” by Patsy Cline from ‘Sentimentally Yours’

Patsy Cline dished out some amazing country songs before her untimely passing, and “She’s Got You” deserves just as much love as hits like “Crazy” or “I Fall To Pieces”. This countrypolitan classic was written by Hank Cochran and was quite the crossover hit. It peaked at No. 1 on the Hot C&W Sides chart and No. 14 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Loretta Lynn would later turn the song into a hit again in 1977.

“Charlie’s Shoes” by Billy Walker

Remember this country tune from Billy Walker? It’s become underrated in recent years, but it’s still quite an offering from 1962. “Charlie’s Shoes” was written by Roy Baham and became the only No. 1 hit of Billy Walker’s career. The song topped the Hot C&W Sides chart in 1962.

“Wolverton Mountain” by Claude King from ‘Meet Claude King’

“Wolverton Mountain” by Claude King is one of those country songs from 1962 that, if you’re a baby boomer, you might have forgotten about. But once the meat of the song kicks in, it’s like you’re right back in the 1960s. 

“Wolverton Mountain” by Claude King was a smash crossover hit. It peaked at No. 1 on the Hot Country Songs chart and No. 6 on the Hot 100 chart. It’s been covered about a million times at this point by the likes of Nat King Cole, Bing Crosby, Hank Williams Jr., and others.
